So what are the hackers doing? First they are looking for money. Some of the attacks have come in the form of fake apps being installed that send text messages to premium rate SMS services. So they get paid and you get the bill. They are also looking for information. Passwords and such to take over your social media sites (Facebook & Twitter) and any banking information they get would be welcomed by them as well.
So what do you do?
Just follow these simple steps to stay protected. Like all security issues nothing is 100% but it helps.
1) Be familiar with your device. If something doesn't look right, or if you see an app you didn't install - get it taken care of!
2) Don't install apps you aren't familiar with. Make sure that you are getting your apps from reliable sources.
3) Password your phone. If it gets a virus this won't help much, but if it is stolen it'll keep your data safe.
